God’s timing is always perfect. Which means His lessons are always perfectly timed.
As I committed to spending time focusing on forgiveness, wouldn’t you know He would provide a circumstance where I could walk my own talk.My husband lost his job on Monday. The circumstances behind the job loss don’t matter in the bigger scheme of things and for the purposes of this post – and what I believe God may be trying to teach me/us – suffice it to say we are practicing the discipline of letting go – of releasing anger and bitterness – of resting in the knowledge that trials and the refining fires that accompany them ALWAYS grow us into the people God needs us to be to do the work He has put before us.
And here’s the lesson I”m learning — and one I was going to address, anyway.
Forgiveness is a DAILY – sometimes hourly – CHOICE.
- Letting go.
- Opening hands.
- Releasing anger (however justified we think it is).
- Enduring the slings and arrows of misunderstanding and malice – with patience and faith – and CHOOSING to believe that God sees and knows and is acting.
- Praying for the other.
Forgiveness is a daily discipline.
